Vaginal Reconstruction/Rejuvenation

Vaginal reconstruction or rejuvenation is performed in women with physical abnormalities of the vagina or a loss of optimal vaginal shape and structure which is often a result of childbirth. These women may experience pain during intercourse or suffer from a loss of sexual gratification. These symptoms may result from a vaginal opening that is too loose or tight. Naturally, large labia's or other unexplained physical changes of the vagina might also cause symptoms. Vaginal reconstruction and rejuvenation may include, but are not limited to, increasing or decreasing the opening of the vagina or restructure/reduce the size of the labia.

Restructure of the Vaginal Opening

Vaginal muscles relax as women get older. The muscles may also become stretched as a result of childbirth. The excessive relaxation or stretching of these muscles may increase the size of the vaginal opening. This may reduce the amount of friction during intercourse and cause a decrease in sensation for women as well as their partners. Restructure of the vaginal opening is done by removing panels of tissue from the outer vagina and making the vagina more narrow. This procedure restores sensation in women and their partners, making intercourse enjoyable once again.

Labia Minor Reduction

This procedure reduces the volume and size of the inner vaginal lips and is the most commonly per-
formed type of vaginal reconstruc-
tion. The labia minor may be too large or unusually shaped from events such as childbirth or some other type of trauma. The abnormality in size and shape can cause the labia to fully or partially cover the vaginal opening during intercourse. The result may cause painful intercourse and the vagina to lose it's natural lubricant. Labia minor reduction removes the excessive tissue and reshapes the labia to give a more natural appearance.

Labia Major Remodeling

This procedure restructures the outer vaginal lips when they are uneven or lopsided. In addition, the procedure may be performed to reduce the size of the outer lips. Remodeling of the labia major enhances the natural appearance of the vagina, will not interfere with intercourse, and increases sensuality and gratification.

Post-Surgical or Post-Traumatic Reconstruction

This type of reconstruction is performed when physical abnormalities of the vagina occur as a result of trauma, disease, or previous surgery. The extent of the surgery is unique to each individual women and the type of abnormality that is involved.

Vaginal reconstruction or rejuvenation can correct problems that make intercourse painful and reduce sensuality and gratification. Consultations are free and making an appointment is the first step toward restoring a healthy and enjoyable sex life.
